This trend started in college racquetball in the late 90’s. The students needed to carry their books and racquetball racket to get from one of their academic classes then go directly to the gym for their college racquetball class.
The first company had the college racquetball players in mind, and the rest followed with their own version of a racquetball backpack.
Racquetball backpacks have now made their way into the local racquetball clubs and into the Racquetball tournaments. When traveling, it is a great idea to use a racquetball backpack as a carry-on. I flew to an event once and they lost my suitcase for 2 days and it was delivered to my hotel. Luckily I had my carry-on racquetball backpack with my racquet ball racquets, racquetball goggles, and a racquetball glove and was able to play my first round match.
Taking a racquetball backpack to a local event also has its advantages. Take a bigger bag with all your stuff and leave that at the hotel room. Then pack up your racquetball backpack with the racquetball equipment, you need for that day along with some extra T-shirts and you won’t be lugging around something huge and wasting your energy.
Racquetball backpacks have come a long way since their early college racquetball days. Racquetball backpacks now have cell phone holders, multiple pockets, and you may find them more convenient like I have.
