Ektelon O3 Red Review

Racquetball Racquets Ratings Summary

This is the most powerful series of racquets Ektelon has ever made. The series consists of two models which are the Red (170 grams) and the Silver (190 grams)...pretty easy to remember! The little round circles you see on the lower left of the picture are gigantic string holes located on the side and top of the frame. The question everyone asks us is what do all those little "O" ports (as Ektelon calls them) really do for the racquet and more importantly YOUR GAME! Here's what Ektelon says: "By replacing traditional pin-sized string holes with revolutionary giant O-Ports, a super aerodynamic frame has been created with a more responsive stringbed. This increases the sweet spot by 54%, creating a Sweet Zone, which means you hit your best shots … more often. What’s truly impressive is that the Prince engineers are able to do this all without enlarging the racquet head, increasing its length, or adding weight!"

Good inexpensive racquet with good power and control but they break in the corners with floor or wall contact. Have broken 3 in one year and would not recommend it if you play hard.

Very solid racket performance-wise, just be prepared to replace this racket often as the frame is weak and cracks at the corners seem common. I have broken 4 of these O3 reds without hitting the frame hard and personally I won't buy another one, but I enjoyed the rackets while they lasted. Probably the best performance for the price, but a more expensive racket that lasts longer may be a better value.

I first bought the 03 Copper. Went through both sets of factory strings within 4 months. Noticed cracking in the top 2 corners. Thought it was just the clear coating and paint. Wrong. The frame completely failed. Extelon first refused to replace it but after sending it in again they gave me an 03 Red. Two months of use and the frame cracks in the upper corners have shown up again. I'm shopping for Head, E-Force, or Wilson this time. My old Head i.165 has never had a problem. If you look at Ektelon string holes you'll see how they stupidly put a pair of them very close together in the top corners where we all make contact with the wall on a back hand swing. Stay away from the 03 racquets!

i have broke 8 of these racquets over a 1yr period of time. the racquets have broke in various places on the frame. in the 20+ yrs i have played i have probably broke ~3 racquets. this particular racquet is very vulnerable to sidewall and floor impact.

Fantastic racquet. Foundation design for the O3 Black. Not quite as stiff as the black. Great choice if you like a little more feel in your racquet.

Decent racket, would vibrate a lot without a dampner. The racquet is easier to string than previous string patters from Ektelon.
