Head Extreme 170 Review

Racquetball Racquets Ratings Summary

HEAD Extreme 170 Weight (Grams): 170 Racquet Length: 22 Head Size: 106 String Tension: 30-36 MicroGel This new space-age technology has allowed HEAD to design the most solid hitting racquet ever! Upon ball impact HEAD MicorGEL compresses, absorbing and dispersing the impact to the entire frame, then returns quickly to its original shape. This creates incredible performance with ROCK SOLID POWER! Metallix Unchain the Power with Metallix, a specially developed matrix of carbon fibers and a new crystalline metal alloy with a grain-size 1,000 times smaller than conventional metal. What does all this mean to you? A stronger, stiffer and more powerful racquet. FLEXPOINT PWR = A RACQUET WITH TWO HOLES? Absolutely! When Flexpoint PSW is activated an incredible "trampoline" effect is unleashed, launching the ball off the racquet at power levels you never thought possible. More Control! The unique "cupping" effect of Flexpoint PWR allows you to hit every shot right where you are aiming. Imagine even your off-center hits re-dircting back to your target with deadly accuracy. The result is an incredible increase in raw power. In addition, each PowerChannel tube is wrapped in a special vibration dampening material. Since each of the 16 main strings pass through one of these tubes, a truly "built-in" vibration dampening system is created for the ultimate in comfort for all levels of play.

The best racquet on the market (I demo racquets all the time at my club) since the Liquid Metal a couple years ago. Head hit a home run with this design. I got the new frames early and enjoyed the advantage before everyone else had one (ha!). Play without a dampner for the first time in years with zero arm problems. Power is awesome yet the control is right on. Lots of them at my club now and zero breakage, so its durable too.

Racquet plays like a dream. Extremely difficult to string with floating clamp system (like most newer head racquets), so make sure that you use a base clamp system if you're going to string it yourself. This one is weighted a few points head heavy, so it will take a bit of adjustment...but it's definitely worth it.
